Mobs Overview
ReInDev keeps the Beta 1.7.3 mob roster intact but folds in a large cast of new creatures, several mutant variants of vanilla animals, and a true boss. Mobs are registered in three behavioural families: passive (never retaliate), neutral (peaceful until provoked, or hostile only at night), and hostile (attack on sight). Health and contact damage figures below are taken straight from the entity classes; damage scales with the world difficulty setting, so most attackers deal 0 on Peaceful (where several new mobs even despawn themselves).
Passive Mobs
The familiar farm animals return: Cow, Pig, Sheep, Chicken (4 health), and the tameable Wolf (12 health). Cows drop Leather and can be milked with an empty bucket into a Milk Bucket. ReInDev adds the Fox (12 health, tameable with Blueberries, can be picked up into a Fox Bucket) and several wholly new passive creatures described below.
The Moo-family
ReInDev expands the single vanilla Mooshroom into an entire line of "mutant cows", all sharing Cow stats and behaviour. Each can be sheared for a signature block (consuming the mutation and leaving a plain Cow behind, plus 5 dropped items), or reverted directly by right-clicking with a sword. The Mooshroom also gives Mushroom Stew when used with a Bowl.
| Mob | Shear yields | Spawns on |
|---|---|---|
| Mooshroom | Red Mushroom | Mycelium (light > 8) |
| Brown Mooshroom | Brown Mushroom | Mycelium |
| Glowing Mooshroom | Glowing Mushroom | Mycelium |
| Moobloom | Buttercup | grassy surface |
| Moolip | Marigold | grassy surface |
| Mooshevil | Portabella | Netherrack / Mycelial Netherrack |
Cucurboo
A passive, pumpkin-wearing flying spirit (size 0.75 x 1.5) that drifts and emits "ghost" particles. It wears one of twelve carved Jack o'Lanterns at random and ignores the player entirely (its attack method is empty). When killed it drops 1-4 items rolled from a weighted loot table that is unusually generous: Iron and Gold Ingots are most common, but it can yield Sponge, Quartz Cluster, Cloud Blocks, Cloud Boots, a Flower Crown, Gardening Hat, Shark Plushie, Clock, Compass, Wrench, Fishing Rod, gold or leather/chainmail gear, and rarely a Dahlia. It spawns rarely (1-in-20 roll on top of normal spawn rules).
Maggot
A tiny passive crawler (10 health, very slow at 0.25 move speed) that spawns only on Flesh blocks. It cannot jump or take fall damage. Right-clicking it with an empty bucket scoops it into a Maggot Bucket (granting the achievement "The ReInDev Pipeline") and is immune to thorny/prickly blocks.
Neutral Mobs
Wyverns
Large flying reptiles (40 health, size 1.25 x 1.5, score 50) that occasionally land and perch. There are four colour variants, all of which fire a variant-specific fireball from range and bite for up to 7 contact damage (difficulty array {0,3,5,7}). Most are neutral by day and only hunt at night or once angered (anger lasts ~400-800 ticks after being hit); they teleport randomly when damaged, much like an Endermen-style escape. A worn Flower Crown pacifies them. Variants:
- Red Wyvern - fire-immune; the default spawn.
- Green Wyvern - poison-immune; drops Toxic Charge.
- Blue Wyvern - drops Lightning Charge.
- Blood Wyvern - always hostile (the only non-neutral variant), fire-immune, immune to prickly blocks, glows faintly; drops Blood Charge.
Wyverns despawn on Peaceful and take drowning damage if they enter water or lava.
Wasps
Flying swarm insects (size 1.0 x 1.0, score 5) that sting for 2 damage on Normal+ (0 on Easy). They are neutral but swarm: striking one angers every Wasp within a 32-block radius. The texture switches to an "angry" skin while provoked. They drop Honeycomb, can despawn freely, and spawn at a 1-in-20 rate.
Hostile Mobs
The vanilla hostiles all return - Zombie (20 health), Skeleton (20), Creeper, Spider, Slime, Ghast, Zombie Pigman, and the oversized Giant Zombie (50 contact damage). ReInDev adds new threats:
- Scaribou - a 40-health, partly invisible stalker (5 damage). It creeps at 0.75 speed while hidden and lunges at 2.0 speed once it becomes visible (on being hit or attacking). It burns up in bright daylight, is immune to prickly blocks, drops Leather, and has a 1-in-6 chance to drop a Scaribou Skull.
- Demon - a fire-immune flying spellcaster (50 health, score 500, contact damage {0,3,5,7}). It cycles through four spells - a triple/quintuple Fireball spread, a Double Helix, a radial Fissure, and Summon (spawning 3 Demon Spirits) - and gains harder "enraged" variants below 25 health. Drops 1-4 Augmentite, a rare Demon Skull (1%), and occasionally a Dungeon Key (1-in-30).
- Demon Spirit - small flying minion (15 health) summoned by Demons.
- Stroldian - 40-health hostile (score 300) dropping a Corundum Plate and sometimes a Dungeon Key.
- Wither Skeleton (30 health) and Nether Zombie, plus Blaze.
Bosses: the Wither General
The Wither General extends the Wither Skeleton but is a full boss: 40 health, score 300, rendered 1.3x scale, sun-protected, and wearing a unique texture. Its melee scales hard ({0,4,7,10} by difficulty). It alternates two spells - Skulls, firing a burst of homing Wither Skulls, and Summon, which spawns two molten Wither Skeletons (with a ~30-second cooldown between summons). On death it has a 1-in-50 chance to drop the Mysterious Mask, on top of normal Wither Skeleton loot. All of these mob types also exist as Spawn Eggs (e.g. Demon, Wither General, each Wyvern colour, Scaribou, Cucurboo, Wasp, Maggot, and the Moo-family).
